Bachelor of Computer Science (Advanced)
Any computer science degree can teach you general programming and technical systems skills, but few give you a real ‘edge’ over other graduates. The UWS Computer Science (Advanced) program is an elite degree aimed at transforming today’s brightest computing minds into tomorrow’s computing leaders. Throughout the degree you’ll be mentored and guided by leading computing academics and you’ll develop superior knowledge and confidence so you’ll graduate a step ahead in your career.
This course is especially designed for people with a strong interest and aptitude for computer science who are interested in a career involving research and development at the cutting edge of technology. It is a challenging program that includes advanced coursework, extension activities and basic research training. A mentoring program links you with experienced academic staff and research groups within the University, allowing you to take part in the University’s research activities.

Additional Selection Criteria
To be eligible for admission to the B Computer Science (Advanced) a student must have attained a minimum UAI of 90.
Students must maintain a grade point average of above 5 to remain in the course; those who do not maintain this average will be transferred to the B Computer Science. At enrolment students will be required to sign a declaration acknowledging the requirement to maintain a >5 GPA.
In addition to submitting a UAC application, students will also be required to complete a questionnaire. The questionnaire will assist the University to prepare a mentoring program and an advanced academic study program based on the key programs offered within the B Computer Science (Advanced). The questionnaire can be obtained by calling the UWS Course Information Centre on 1800 897 669.
Honours
High-achieving students may choose an Honours option as an additional year (or longer part-time).
