Triple Advantage
The University of Western Sydney is encouraging you to pursue a university education, by providing three clear entry advantages to help you achieve your higher education goals.
We offer degrees that will prepare you for success. Our courses are built on teaching and learning excellence that balances practical and theoretical learning to ensure you are career ready when you graduate.
The Triple Advantage is designed to provide you with more opportunities to study at UWS and achieve your own degree of success.
Advantage 1: The UWS Regional Bonus
All current HSC or IB students living, or studying in the Greater Western Sydney region will automatically receive 5 Bonus Points when applying through UAC to study at UWS.
The Bonus Points apply to all UWS courses (except those with additional selection criteria, B Medicine/B Surgery, B Medicine/B Surgery/B Arts, and B Music) to give you the widest choice of course options.
To qualify for the Regional Bonus Points you must be sitting the NSW HSC or IB in 2009 and receive an ATAR or IB Diploma.
If you do qualify, the Regional Bonus Points are awarded automatically.
To find out if you qualify see the complete list of Greater Western Sydney Postcodes.
Advantage 2: The UWS Subject Bonus
As a way of rewarding outstanding performance in a range of HSC or IB subjects, students may be offered up to a maximum of 10 Bonus Points for their achievements.
To be eligible for Subject Bonus Points you need to achieve band 5 or 6 results in HSC or IB subjects relevant to the UWS course for which you have applied. Students do not need to live in Greater Western Sydney for the UWS Subject Bonus.
If you qualify, the Subject Bonus Points will be added automatically without you having to do anything else.
Please Note: Students who qualify for Regional and Subject Bonus Points and Educational Access Scheme (EAS) Points can only receive a maximum of 10 points in total.
Advantage 3: The UWS Early Offer
The UWS Early Offer is designed to motivate you to do well, and to reduce a lot of the stress and worry you might have about getting an offer from the University of Western Sydney.
If you live or go to school in the Greater Western Sydney region you'll be automatically considered for an Early Offer if your ATAR or IB equals or exceeds the 2009 cut-off for the UWS course you want to do. You need to nominate a UWS course as one of your top three preferences before the UAC on time applications close on 30 September 2009.
Early Offer is available to all UWS courses (except those with additional selection criteria, B Medicine/B Surgery, B Medicine/B Surgery/B Arts, and B Music) to give you the widest choice of course options.
As soon as you know your ATAR or IB you'll know whether to expect an Early Offer. If you achieve the required ATAR or IB your offer of a place at UWS will be confirmed in the January Early Round of UAC offers. This means, you will know before Christmas whether you're going to UWS, and you can enjoy the rest of the summer.
Please Note: Subject Bonus Points are not applicable to an Early Offer. However, Regional Bonus Points are automatically included when considering students for an Early Offer.
